US-UK Fulbright Commission – USA College Day and Internship Opportunity

Hello from the US-UK Fulbright Commission!  If you are not aware of us, Fulbright promotes educational exchange between the US and UK.

Every year, we offer study abroad students the opportunity to get involved with our work. There are two London-based opportunities we’d like to highlight for you – volunteering at USA College Day and internships with our office:

1. Volunteering at USA College Day – the Largest US University Fair in Europe!
College Day is an exciting event with over 4,500 British students eager to learn about studying in the US! This year, we have more than 170 US universities and exhibitors attending our fair in central London. By volunteering, you will help promote studying in the US to your British peers while enjoying yourself and meeting new people!

Details: We are looking for up to 50 volunteers for this two-day event! We will need your help on Friday, 29 September from 9 am – 7:30 pm and on Saturday, 30 September from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. We will provide meals on both days, reimbursement for travel to the event and volunteers will be invited to a celebration at a local pub, to mark the end of another great College Day after the event ends Saturday evening. We will also provide a free event t-shirt as a thank you for all your hard work!

Please sign-up here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CD2017Volunteers.  If you have any questions, please contact collegeday@fulbright.org.uk.

2. Intern at the US-UK Fulbright Commission
The US-UK Fulbright Commission fosters mutual cultural understanding between the US and UK through educational exchange in two ways: through our awards programme and advisory service.

About our Internships: Interns join a small, but dynamic and highly-motivated team of staff. We try to ensure interns have a 50-50 balance between our day-to-day work and special projects they take ownership over. While the Fulbright Commission is happy to consider candidates from all educational backgrounds the positions are highly suitable for applicants from a range of majors and interests including: international relations, events management, communications, political science, international/higher education, student affairs, education and non-profit organisations. Internship applications are accepted throughout the year- autumn, spring and summer. Internships are unpaid and may be arranged on a full-time or part-time basis. For more information, see here.

We have three teams on the Commission where an intern can support our work:

• Advising: As an EducationUSA Centre, our student advising team is designated by the US Department of State as the official source of information on US higher education in the UK. We offer services and events providing UK students with information on the US admissions process. Our team also administers a programme that works specifically with UK state school students interested in studying in the US, known as the Sutton Trust US Programme.

• Awards: The Fulbright Awards Programme is one of the most prestigious and best-known educational exchange programmes in the world. The global Fulbright Programme is operating in over 150 countries, with over 300,000 alumni.

Interested in interning with us? Individual applicants may express their interest in completing an internship by emailing a CV and cover letter to:intern@fulbright.org.uk with the subject line ‘Awards Internship’ or ‘Advising Internship’.
