The School of Public Service at Boise State University invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track professor to hold the Frank and Bethine Church Chair of Public Affairs. This academic appointment is a full time position at the rank of associate or full professor. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. or advanced degree in a relevant discipline with senior level government experience.

We seek candidates with outstanding credentials and demonstrated expertise to fill the Frank and Bethine Church Chair, part of the Frank Church Institute and the School of Public Service at Boise State University. The holder of the Chair should be a person who is comfortable and effective both inside and outside of the academic world.
The Chair holder should be a researcher, teacher, speaker and writer. Through the holder’s work, the Chair will maintain a high public profile, and bring recognition and distinction to the Frank Church Institute and Boise State University.

The holder of the Chair will focus on the foreign policy issues that shape the national and global communities in which we live. The Chair holder will further the understanding of these worlds so that students and the public alike can become educated citizens who will actively contribute and participate in society.

We seek candidates who conduct research in U.S. foreign policy without respect to a particular discipline, and will be able to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in relevant academic programs within the School of Public Service.  Depending upon qualifications, the appointee to this position may be recommended for tenure at the time of hire. Expectations include a commitment to high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, scholarship leading to conference presentations and refereed publications, and university and community service.
