Hardboiled History: A Noir Lens on America’s Past is a one day interdisciplinary conference, to be held on 19th May 2017 at the University of Warwick. This event is sponsored by BAAS, as well as Warwick’s History Department and Humanities Research Centre.
Hardboiled History brings together scholars interested in the ways contemporary media represents and reinterprets history, by exploring how and why “noir” resurfaces in depictions of America’s past across a variety of mediums.
The programme features papers from a wide range of disciplines (film, television, literature, video games, and star studies), with keynote addresses from Dr Helen Hanson (University of Exeter) and Warren Pleece (comic artist and graphic novelist).
