BAAS invites scholars in any field of American Studies to apply for funding to support the organization and running of conferences, colloquia, and/or conference-related activity (it is not meant to fund the applicant’s attendance at a conference). BAAS has access to these funds through membership subscriptions, publications, and particular grants-in-aid from other sources.

The Conferences Sub-Committee will prioritize applications that fund postgraduate attendance and that publicize BAAS, the Journal of American Studies, and U.S. Studies Online at the event. If an event has a school-facing component, the organizers will be expected to promote the BAAS School Essay Prize. Please note that the Conferences fund is not primarily intended to defray costs for visiting speakers, catering, or publicity. BAAS is committed to promoting best practice in matters of equality and diversity and applicants are expected to demonstrate similar consideration when submitting bids to this scheme.

Closing Deadlines: 1 April and 1 November each year. Events should be scheduled to take place within one year of closing date (applicants for the April 1st deadline should host their event by March 31st the following year, for example).
